![]() ![]() Of course that doesn't mean that they aren't using some "trickery" to draw that many polygons in the viewport, just saying that 2.5D is a specific term used for something specific in ZBrush and that it has nothing to do with viewport rendering.īlender isn't that bad either, btw, currently working on a model with 10 million tris without noticable slowdown in the viewport. Read on to find out which one is better for your needs. ![]() Blender: a showdown of two great options for 3D modeling software. For me it would seem like the next logical step but I could be completely wrong.Ģ.5D is actually something different, it's a special mode in ZBrush where you can kind of "paint" height information on a 2D canvas, hence the name. ZBrush vs Blender: The Differences in 2021. I do hope that Blender's sculpting becomes a focal point for development once 2.8 and Eevee are fully released. Pablo Debaros additions to sculpting are making that seriously god awful interface in Zbrush a little more redundant every day. ZBrush has a price tag that’s very high for most 3D hobbyists, starting at just under 30 per month for an individual license. Brushes made in Zbrush wont work in ZbrushCore, keep that in mind. You have texturing Rendering rigging etc etc. Zbrush has loads more brushes and alphas for sale at Artstation because its more of an industry standard. Anyone can own an expensive hammer but not everyone can build a house. Although Blenders 3d painting and sculpting tools (mostly painting) are not at par with specialized software like Substance Painter, ZBrush, or Mari, it is more than capable of getting most jobs done if the user takes the time to learn and understand it. ![]() So AFAIK in order for Blender to become comparable with ZBrush in poly count terms the entire engine would need a rewrite and it would loose its "true 3D" aspect in the process. The advantages of Blender is you can and have to option to master a plethora of specialties. People call it 2.5D, where as Blender uses true 3D which requires more power to render. AFAIK ZBrush's viewport does not actually render in true 3D(unless things have changed, a lot of the info on this is quite old). ![]()
